Is there really a secret basis of success?
I’m often asked this question and I love to respond – because the answer is imbedded in the question – and understanding the concepts at work, (basis, success and the secret) will reveal your own secret basis of success.
Lets jump in, okay?
Basis: My well-worn friend (the dictionary) provides a clue. It states: basis is the main component or ingredient, the basic method or system to get something done or organized; the fundamental principle underlying an idea.
In plain English, it’s the starting point to get something done.
Success: Again, my dictionary says that success is the attainment of a favorable or desired outcome. Your definition of success may differ but the common denominator still the same.
Success is the end product of achieving something you’ve planned or desired.
Well okay, I can work with this. It’s clear that without first accomplishing the beginning step – the basis – we’ll never make it to the ending step – the success.
But isn’t something still missing?
Secret: Identifying what you’re going after and noticing when you’ve achieved it are critical – but the most important factor has to do with you. And it’s a question that only you can answer.
The secret question is: How much do you want it?
Unless you’ve got that powerful internal need supercharging your energy and determination – providing the momentum and motivation to overcome anything in your way – your plans and intentions will fail.
How much do you want it? This is the secret ingredient; the secret basis of success. This is what separates winners from losers. It’s what gets you up in the morning and keeps you going all day in spite of everything. This is what energizes your mind and body to ignore the obstacles and focus only on attainment of your goal.
It’s that feeling of needing to succeed and achieve great things. This is what transforms dreams into action – wishes into results – hopes into reality.
Just honestly ask yourself this question: How much do I want it?
Your answer will determine your own secret basis of success . . . or not.
