Just Be You

It’s time to tell that whole cast of monsters, demons, bullies and goons to pack up their inane torture devices and go trundling back to the hell from which they crawled.

You haven’t got time for the distractions and negative chatter of small minds mouthing irrelevant, inconsequential opinions.

Are you still waiting for someone else to give you permission to be you? If so, it’s time to knock it off!  Given a choice, I would always rather ask for forgiveness than for permission.

Yes, it takes determination to detach yourself from the approval of erstwhile opinion leaders you once looked up to as mentors.

It takes tenacity to break the mold of unreal expectations of perfection.

It takes strength to ignore the “hidden jury” secretly judging your every decision or action.

It takes courage to be who you really are. But it’s the only way you can just be you.

Ralph Waldo Emerson agrees:

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.

Being yourself is what distinguishes you from the rest of humanity; it’s part of your DNA. Everyone is unique. The failing is trying to be like everyone else.

Yes, it takes courage to disagree, to be different, to stand out from the crowd or to be audacious. And, like any other ability, it requires discipline and practice to master.

Don’t wait. Start now. You’ve got nothing to lose except the self-imposed limitations you put on yourself.
