The Route To Sales Mastery

It’s a strange road you travel once you begin the route to sales mastery; for it is not a path for the faint of heart.

For it is wrought with challenges and demands beyond the pale, far outside the boundaries of the conventional. But if a life of accomplishment is in your future, it is the only option.

Good enough” just doesn’t cut it anymore. The world has changed and the bar has been raised.

You’re competing in a global economy these days and if your level of expertise is not moving toward mastery, you’re falling behind. The difference between average and mastery is found in how much character, initiative and persistence you bring to the game.

Are you ready?

The route to sales mastery begins with a decision.

Once you really decide to do something, you instantly get an idea of what it feel like to have already accomplished it. You know how it would affect your life and the lives of others, and it becomes a reality in your own mind.

This is a great start.

But we live in a world where other people have their own dreams, visions and aspirations.

Now the key is: Who wants it more?

Vision is powerful tool, but only putting dreams into action can make it a reality.

This is where discipline, desire and the demand for perfection and excellence come in to play.

Can you stick to your decision, your vision, even when you run into resistance and opposition?

Can you hold to your dream even when “friends” plant seeds of doubt?

Can you maintain your own point of view even when circumstances seem to dictate that the odds are stacked against you?

If you can, then you’re already taken the first major step on the route to mastery of selling.

The main reason few achieve their vision is that they become distracted and dispersed by the noise and clutter of everyday life. Winners direct their focus and energies to one overriding goal. It’s the first thing they think about when they wake up and the last when they fall asleep.

Those who do achieve true sales mastery have the self-discipline to concentrate on their goals in spite of every invitation to do otherwise.

The two steps are:

1. Make a clear, unambiguous decisionof what you intend to accomplish. At that moment the universe begins a process of aligning to your dictates, rather than the reverse, to help bring about the changes you desire.

2. Hold that decision as paramount in your thoughts and actions no matter what obstacles, barriers or distractions appear to stop you.

Others, already recognized masters in their own fields, agree:

When you see a thing clearly in your mind, your creative “success mechanism” within you takes over and does the job much better than you could do it by conscious effort or willpower. – Maxwell Maltz

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. – Henry Ford

Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. – Albert Einstein.

First say to yourself what you would be, and then do what you have to do. – Epicetus

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins. – Bob Moawad

And, humbly submitted, here is one of my own:

Do your goals inspire you? If not, maybe you’re not thinking big enough. Small goals won’t give you the power to overcome doubts, fears and distractions along the way. Think big. Now, think bigger.  – daniel w. jacobs

Most people have no idea of the powerful resources ready to do their bidding once the decision is made to really focus on mastering something. Sadly, they never give the command. Instead, they leave it all to luck or chance and mostly end up on the scrap heap of life.

Why not let the universe adjust to your decisions and dictates for a change?

Ignore the distractions, the doubts, the worries and they’ll fall by the wayside like so many insignificant pebbles.

What will appear is what you have decided.

The route to sales mastery all begins with you.
